Batten and BGA Look To Make Another Run

“Last year was an exciting season for our school and BGA community,” said Batten. We were one of the few teams playing in December and hope to build off the experience”–PrepWeekly.com

2015 has the potential to be another special season for Batten and the Wildcats.

BGA Hopes Pinned on Offense According to Prepweekly.com writer Jacob Underwood:

The 2014 season was like a flashback to old times for the Battle Ground Academy football program. The Wildcats appeared in the state championship game (Division II-A) for the first time since 2003. Once regarded as the premier program in Williamson County – BGA won 5 state titles in an 8 year span from 1995-2003 – it was a run long over due.

Offensively BGA returns 5 starters headlined by Clay Beathard at quarterback. Beathard won the Division II-A Back Mr. Football award last season. He’s a strong leader with a high football IQ. The 6’1 gunslinger has been around football his entire life. His granddad spent 38 years in NFL front offices. His older brother, C.J., started at quarterback for Iowa last season.

Defensively, the Wildcats enter the season with a few question marks. They are replacing 8 of 11 starters, but the cupboard is far from empty. How they address those questions may well be the difference in a state championship and an early playoff exit. The pieces are there but putting them together will be a process.
