The first round (quarterfinals) of regional playoffs were this weekend. Here is how local teams fared :

Class AAA Regionals (region 6):

All region 6 games were (and will be) at Glen Cliff High School

Brentwood boys beat Hillsboro 59-37 on Saturday night.

“We played the best defense of the year, forcing multiple turnovers that led directly to scores,” Dennis King, Bruins head coach, said.

James McPherson  had 23 points.

Brentwood plays Cane Ridge at 7:45 on Tuesday in the semi-finals.

Earlier on Saturday night, the Franklin boys went into overtime, and beat Hillwood 57-53. Franklin was behind 47-49 with time expiring in regulation when Garrison Matthews hit a layup to send the game into overtime, which Franklin dominated with defense.

“I am proud with how we played in a big game for the first time, after we got over our nerves and calmed down,” said Jamie Wilson, Franklin’s head coach. “We executed.”

Garrison Matthews led Franklin with 26 points, adding 10 rebounds.

Franklin plays Hunters Lane at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday in the semifinals.

The Ravenwood boys season, on the darker side, ended Friday night with a loss to Cane Ridge, 81-61.

Despite three Raptors scoring double digits, with Jimmy Greer’s 15 points tops on the team, they could not get stops.

“We just didn’t play well,” Patrick Whitlock, Raptors head coach, said after the game. “But I am very proud of the our season.”

Girls:

Brentwood beat Hillsboro 61-29 in quarterfinals, led by Marissa Anthony’s 12 points.

They play Overton in the semifinals Monday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Rebels beat Antioch easily, 39-48. Senior Anna Patton led Franklin with 13 points, all in the second half. Franklin will play Dickson Co. at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Ravenwood girls, unfortunately, also were losers over the weekend. The Lady Raptors lost to Overton 55-22. Bailey Swayze led RHS with 11 points.

Class AA (region 6) all games at Spring Hill)

CPA (boys) beat Lewis Co. 69-31; Braxton Blackwell had 18. CPA (girls) beat Stewart Co. 52-47

The boys play Creekwood Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The girls play Giles Co. on Monday at 6 p.m. Both are semi-final games, and will be played at Spring Hill.

The Page boys lost to Creek Wood 98-75. Christian Denton had 24 in the losing effort.

Division II

Class AA:

BA boys lost to Ensworth 61-52. Jordan James led the Eagles with 18 points.

The BA girls, however, won, beating Baylor 59-40. Bria Dial scored 16 and Sydni Harvey put in 12.

The Lady Eagles play Briarcrest at Lipscomb at 1:15 p.m. this Friday in the semi-finals for D-II AA.

Class A:

BGA boys beat Lausanne 63-41, led by 15 from Nathan Moran, and will play ECS Thursday at 2:45 p.m. in the A semi-finals.

FRA boys beat St. George 55-52 and will play Webb on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

FRA girls lost to Northpoint 47-41.
