Baseball Roundup: Brentwood Claims Two Victories

Brentwood High picked up a pair of victories Tuesday at the Gulf Coast Classic in Gulf Shore, Ala.

The Bruins romped past Lake Hamilton, Ark., 22-1, and then edged Russell County, Ala., 5-3 to improve to 6-3 on the season.

The Bruins weren’t the only Williamson County team to sweep a pair of games at the tournament. Brentwood Academy accomplished the same feat, out-slugging Arab, Ala., 12-8, and then edging Montgomery Academy, Ala., 7-3.

The Summit Spartans, who are also involved in the tournament, posted an 18-5 victory over Hackleburg, Ala.

In other area baseball action involving Williamson County squads, Grace Christian fell to Columbia Academy, 6-4, on Tuesday, while Ravenwood dropped a 6-5 decision to visiting Central, Ariz.

Trinity Christian of Florida edged Christ Presbyterian Academy, 4-3, as CPA continues to play games on its spring break trek to Florida.

Two local teams squared off in a doubleheader Tuesday, as Independence edged Centennial 3-2 in the opener, but the Cougars bounced back and posted an 8-0 shutout over the Eagles in the second game.
