The 2014 baseball season began this week, with most teams playing Monday or Tuesday. Here is a look at some notable games from Tuesday night.
Battle Ground Academy destroyed Hendersonville Christian 19-2. BGA is coming out swinging this season, and in this game: it scored 12 runs in the first inning. Three from BGA had two hits: Tucker Beathard, Conor Byrne and Patrick Wells. Pitcher Grayson Guthrie got the win, striking out six.
Summit lost to Franklin, at Franklin, 5-2.
Impressive outing from Rebel pitcher Matt Hargraves, who had 10 Ks, and only one earned run. Three Rebels had two hits: Nick Hutchins, Logan Jarvis and Austin Winstead.
Ravenwood lost to Smyrna, 7-6.
Page went to Moore County, but lost 4-0.
Indy got routed at Centennial, 11-1.
Father Ryan and BA opened the season with three games against each other: one at Father Ryan on Monday night, that BA lost, and a double header on Tuesday at BA. Father Ryan won the first game 10-4 and the second 11-8. It is an encouraging way to start a season for the Irish, especially over a Div.II-AA rival.
Coming up on Wednesday night are more good games. Franklin goes against Summit at 4 p.m., as Summit looks for revenge.
Independence and Centennial play each other again at Indy, as Indy looks to redeem itself.
