Chris Barker won the 2016 Founders’ Golf Cup last Saturday at Westhaven Golf Club, the premier 18-hole golf club located in Franklin, TN. The Founders’ Cup is a season-long points race for all golf members, with the overall winner determined by a compilation score from eight member-tournaments, and the golfer’s score from the season-ending championship tournament round. “Points are awarded to each member based on how they finish in each of the club events. The top 30 in the final point standings qualify for the season-ending Founders’ Cup Championship round to determine the overall 2016 champion,” said Chris Cauthen, Head Golf Professional at Westhaven Golf Club.
According to Cauthen, Barker entered the Founders’ Championship on Saturday in a tie for 5th place but took over the lead with his 2nd place, one under par finish by the end of the day. “The championship event was an 18-hole stroke play event using 100 percent of each player’s course handicap,” Cauthen explained.
Trey Stewart shot a four under par 68 to finish in 1st place in the championship tournament, with Chris Barker following in second with 71, and Damian Wyatt placing third with 73.
This was the second annual year for the tournament, which is named after Founders’ Square in Westhaven.
