BA Eagles Going to Ensworth

school headerBrentwood Academy should be undefeated.

It is not that their one loss of the year came against one of the best teams in Kentucky. It is just that any team winning as impressively as the Eagles this year should have the honor of a perfect record. (They won a game 70-0 earlier this year, for crying out loud.)

What BA does have is a perfect record in Division II-AA. It is hard won and well deserved.

Eagles Have Tough Match Up

After beating Baylor in a division game two weeks ago, the Eagles (4-1, 2-0) were off last week for a rest and regroup.

They come right back on Friday night and go to Ensworth, another DII-AA opponent. Ensworth (3-3, 1-0) is coming off a huge win, after having a rocky start to the season, against CPA. The Tigers will be riding a high, but BA is quite the buzzkill.

The Eagles average a nose-bleeding 45 points per game, and allow a district low 15 points on defense. They are the No. 2 ranked team in the state- (with next week’s opponent Montgomery Bell Academy at No. 3). And those numbers are skewed because of the 31-13 loss to Trinity in week two. If you factor in games against Tennesse teams only, their average game is a 53-11 win. And that is coming in Division II, which is one of the hardest districts to play in in the state.

Jeremiah Oatsvall is leading BA at quarterback, with nearly 600 yards, 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptons. Coach Cody White has mixed in sophomore Gavin Schoenwald, also, who has almost 300 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Prince Momodu leads BA in rushing, with 437 yards and 3 touchdowns. Oatsvall also has almost 300 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing. Camron Johnson, with 369 yards and 3 touchdowns is leading BA in receiving. But BA is a fairly deep team with a lot of talent at the skill positions. Any player could break out any week.
