BA Blast Baylor, Bound For Blue Cross Bowl

Jeremiah Oatsvall topped 200 yards rushing and scored three rushing touchdowns to propel Brentwood Academy to their first state championship appearance since 2008. The Eagles beat the Red Raiders 24-7 at Carlton Flatt Field to advance to the Division II-AA state championship. It was Brentwood Academy’s second victory over Baylor this year after their 42-30 regular season win.

Oatsvall would open the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown plunge to put the Eagles up 7-0. Issac Way would add a field goal and Oatsvall would add another 1-yard touchdown run to put Brentwood Academy up 17-0 at the end of the fourth quarter. Baylor would only mount one legitimate scoring threat in the first half, but Victor Ulmo’s field goal attempt would sail wide and send the teams to the locker room with the Eagles up 17-0.

In the second half, Baylor would finally light the visitors’ side of the scoreboard. Quarterback Will Austin would cap a 9-play, 80-yard drive with a 3-yard run to make the score 17-7 after three. In the fourth quarter, Oatsvall would cap the final tally with another rushing touchdown to give the Eagles the 24-7 victory and punch their ticket to Cookeville.

Brentwood Academy will be going for their 11th state championship in school history, their second in Division II-AA. This will be the first championship appearance for Cody White as the head coach of the Eagles. On December 3rd, the Eagles will face off against Ty Chandler and the rival MBA Big Red. Brentwood Academy dominated the Big Red 48-14 in their October 9th meeting. The rematch will be played at Tucker Stadium on Tennessee Tech’s campus at 7:00 PM on Thursday the 3rd.
