BA: Big Win, Big Commit, and Big Visit

Williamson County Football

Brentwood Academy (5-3, 2-2), certainly, knows how to make an impression.  Not only were fans decked out in red and roaring over the field, but Butch Jones himself made an appearance to the game to watch the dominate Eagles play.

The red-and-white took a 39-16 victory over the visiting McCallie (3-5, 1-3) Tornados tonight.

To kick-off the game, Brentwood Academy knocked a TD into the end zone, only 10:12 into the game to lead 7-0.  The Eagles held the Tornados to a scoreless first quarter.

Shortly into the second, McCallie brought it into the end zone its first TD of the night to bring a tied score of 7-7, with 10:58 left in the half.  Brentwood Academy decided to take a lead with a touchdown a little over two minutes after McCallie.

It was 14-7, and the Eagles were determined to not let the Tornados get into the end zone.

As the crowd roared, the Tornados made a field goal attempt to take a 3-point deficit to BA.  With less than a minute left in the half, the Eagles brought the halftime score 17-10 with a F-G-A of their own and take a seven-point advantage over McCallie.

BA wasted no time coming back into the game.  A touchdown would bring the Eagles up 24-10 with just 7:09 left in the third.

It was one of those “what just happened” moments, when Brandon Taylor took off for 73-yard TD on a punt return to bring the Eagles up by 21 points.  The crowd went wild and the moment was priceless.

The tone was dampened a bit when McCallie reached the end zone once more, but quickly set just right as the kick was blocked, to only bring them up by six points.

Just as you thought it was over, the Eagles flew past the Tornados for one more TD and a 2-point conversion to seal off a 39-16 final score for the night.

The much anticipated, man-of-the-hour, Derek Barnett committed to Tennessee on Wednesday and rounded up Jones for a visit to watch him play on the Eagle turf tonight.

Barnett says everything was pretty exciting tonight, but ultimately, wanted to focus on his game tonight.
