BA Baseball Swept in Chattanooga

The BA Eagle baseball team struggled in Chattanooga this weekend, getting swept in a three-game series against McCallie by a combined score of 38-18.

Friday’s opener was the closest game, which BA dropped 6-3. The Eagles led 2-1 after the opening inning but fell behind by a run after the third. McCallie widened their led with a three-run sixth as Alex Tucker and Corbin Brooksbank had RBIs for McCallie.

Warren Preston had two RBIs for BA.

Palmer Steventon got the win for the Blue Tornado, giving up only one hit and walking two in 4 2/3 innings.

BA’s Ryan Victory took the loss, striking out two and scattering 11 hits in the complete-game effort.

Things looked to be better for the Eagles in the first half of Saturday’s doubleheader. They led 6-4 after three innings before McCallie put together innings of three, five, and five runs to close the game, winning 17-10.

Ryan Franklin was charged with the loss for BA, despite only three of the eight runs scored on him being earned – the Eagles were charged with four errors.

Preston, Victory, and Evan Beddoe had mult-hit games for the Eagles with Victory leading the way with two RBI.

Drew Vaughn got the win for McCallie despite pitching on 2 1/3 frames. In that time he struck out two, walked three, and allowed three runs.

Brooksbank and Vaughn each hit home runs for McCallie.

Game 3 of the series was all McCallie as the home team won 15-5. The Blue Tornado scored at least two runs in every frame against BA’s Jay Stanga and Kelton Reynolds.

Multi-RBI games were had for McCallie by Payne (4), Ethan Cady (3), and Vaughn (2).

BA looks to put this series behind them as they face Goodpasture Tuesday before traveling to Baylor for another Division II-AA series this coming weekend.
