Be Aware of Potential Roofing Scam in Spring Hill

Michael SmallwoodSHPD has received at least one report of Michael Smallwood performing, or attempting to perform, roofing services within the city of Spring Hill. Mr. Smallwood was convicted of theft due to an incident that happened in Nolensville in 2015. Mr. Smallwood, who was the owner of Tics Roofing and Restoration in Murfreesboro, took the victim’s money and did not perform any services.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) states on its website that this business’ accreditation was revoked. “BBB suspended the Accreditation status of Tics Roofing and Restoration due to the company’s failure to honor BBB’s Accreditation Standards. Four consumers have complained alleging they signed contracts with Tics Roofing & Restoration for new roofs, totaling over $13,000 in deposits, yet the company has not returned to perform the contracted work.  Consumers state they have called, emailed and sent texts to the company to no avail.”

Contractors taking money without performing work may be prosecuted by law enforcement as theft, pursuant to TCA §39-14-105. Please make sure your contractor is licensed. Always check with the BBB for any complaints against a person performing your work.
