Williamson County Schools is already home to talented student-athletes, and now two district employees have also been recognized for state awards by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).

Fairview High Athletic Director Ricky Jones was named the District Six Athletic Director of the Year, and Brentwood High Principal Kevin Keidel was named the District Six Principal of the Year during the A.F. Bridges Awards ceremony.

The A.F. Bridges Awards honor good sportsmanship and good citizenship and represent the best of high school athletics.

Jones has dedicated more than 40 years to Fairview and introduced several new sports to Fairview High.

“As athletic director, he helped elevate all sports to new heights,” said Fairview High Principal Dr. Kurt Jones. “Ricky’s servant leadership as a coach and athletic director has inspired athletes over the years to give back to their school and community. Coach Jones has numerous former students and players who now coach the Yellow Jackets. Ricky Jones is the true definition of Jacket Pride.”

During the 2017-18 school year, Brentwood High had five teams win state championships and nine more teams make it to state tournaments.

“I am humbled by the recognition,” Keidel said. “I am fortunate and thankful to work with such incredibly talented students, teachers and coaches. Brentwood High is a special place, and it is all because of the people who are there.”
