Approved County Budget Includes Pay Raise for Teachers

With the passing of the Williamson County Budget on July 13, teachers, and all other employees of Williamson County Schools, will get a 5 percent pay raise.

WCS received about $290.5 million, up 4.4 percent from last year.

More than half of the $472.8 million county budget went to fund WCS. No programs were cut from schools, and $300,000 was put aside as an incentive for new teachers as well as hard-to-fill positions such as bus drivers.

A discussion on setting aside money for theaters in schools occurred during the budget meeting, and in the end, $4.5 million of the $290.5 million was allocated to build theaters in schools.

The pay raise for WCS employees was applauded by Superintendent Looney.
