Americana Experience Rocks Franklin This Weekend

With Nashville and Manchester getting some of music’s bigger names, it’s a rare sight for Franklin to get a music festival to call our own.

The Americana Experience is set to deliver just that. Ten days, 10 venues and over 50 artists are set to descend to downtown Franklin. The festivities began on May 22nd and continue through June 1st.

The festival not only showcases live acts, radio shows and plays but intends to celebrate the culture and artistry of “The Americana Music Triangle.”

“Americana” is the banner under which various styles of American roots music have found a home – from the delta blues to bluegrass as well as Cajun, folk, alternative-country, jazz, rockabilly and gospel. It lives in the words and sounds which history helped define in the geographic triangle roughly framed by New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville.

The Americana Experience will take place between those ten days in several different locations all across Franklin, from Puckett’s Restaurants and Kimbro’s, to the Franklin Theatre, The Factory and Gray’s On Main.

While several events require tickets, many shows are free to the public and go throughout the day. Free events include The Jake Leg Stompers (Friday, May 23rd) Farmer & Adele (Saturday, May 24th), Larry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers (Sunday, May 25th) plus many more.

The Americana Experience will also showcase “The Hank Legacy: The Songs of Hank Williams” by Studio Tenn actors at The Factory, set to run Thursday, May 29th – Sunday, June 1st at 2 p.m.
