Allenbrooke Farms CSA Sign ups

Don’t miss your chance to participate in community supported agriculture (CSA) with Allenbrooke Farms in Spring Hill. This 120 acre family farm has been growing crops using natural and organic methods for generations. This will be their second year offering CSA shares to the community.

Allenbrooke-Farms-Couple-Pic-1Daniel and Stephanie Allen live and work this land and try to be good stewards. Daniel says it is in his blood to farm and after growing all their own food for years they decided to open a CSA. “What kind of stewards of the land would we be if we didn’t,” said Daniel “and farming makes me happy.” You can purchase a bushel or half-bushel per week through their plan and unlike other CSA’s you can pick your own share.

“Only you know what you have left over from last week, that your children don’t eat zucchini or when you’re going out of town. We don’t want you to be stuck with something you won’t eat.  We’ve learned when you let people choose their own you have happy customers,” continued Daniel. The items available for inclusion in each share include basil, beefsteak tomatoes, butternut squash, snow peas, romaine lettuce, sweet potatoes, sugar cherry tomatoes, arugula, sweet purple beauty peppers and more.

“It’s so great to watch the families get out of the cars during a pickup. The mama’s get their basket and start picking out their food, and the kids chase the kittens & turkeys around the farm, or feed the pigs. I love our ‘Farmily’, and being supported by our community like this. It’s great knowing there’s another generation out there that will know exactly where their food comes from and who grew it” remarked Daniel. Along with great herbs and veggies Allenbrooke also offers grass fed beef, pastured pork, free-range eggs, and jellies to their CSA customers.

CSA Farmilies can choose to pick up their food each week on Mondays or Wednesdays, anytime between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Of course they will still be at the Franklin Farmer’s Market Saturday mornings from 8am-1pm starting with the first CSA pickup in the spring.
