Officers responded to a reported burglary in progress shortly after 9:00 pm, Monday night, at Discount Tire on Southwinds Drive. A worker at a nearby business reported the in-progress crime. An officer on patrol was just around the corner when the call came in and interrupted the felony as it was occurring.

The officer saw 27-year-old Maximiliano Reyes, of Antioch, loading tires into his van behind the building. Despite 80-degree temperatures, Reyes was wearing layered clothing and gloves at the time of his arrest. Fourteen stolen tires were found in his van.

Charged with Felony Theft, Reyes was released today on the $15,000 bond set by the Magistrate. He is due in court 05/31/2018.

Fighting crime is a partnership between the police and the community. Without last night’s call from an alert citizen, Reyes’ crime may have gone unsolved. The Franklin Police Department is grateful for the good citizen, for their willingness to get involved, and we encourage others to join with us in making a safer Franklin.
