Are you ready for the Williamson County Fair?

It all starts this Friday, Aug 7th, running through Aug 15th. This year’s theme is “Wild about the Williamson County Fair.” With a wide array of events, there’s something at the fair for everyone in your family. One event you don’t want to miss is a performance by the Zuzu Acrobats.

zuzu-acrobats-williamson-county-fairThe Zuzu Acrobats hail from Mombasa Kenya in East Africa. The group has performed together since the members were eight years old. At that time they learned from village elders the art of making traditional circus performances or ‘sarakasi’ as it is known in ki-Swahili. The art of sarakasi was traditionally used in marriage celebrations and festivities to mark other events. Today it has been adapted to entertain tourists at the many resorts in Kenya.

Those five little boys practicing their routines on the beaches around Mombasa working for tips from travelers could hardly have believed how their hard work would pay off into massive success in the United States. The group has been seen on such shows as America’s Got Talent, the David Letterman Show, two different Superbowls, every NBA team’s halftime show, the White House and many more.

What has so captivated Americans is the effortless joy with which these five amazing performers carry out their show. Whether it is limbo, jumping through hoops, skip rope, contortion, balancing, tumbling, hat juggling or of course their signature piece – fast pyramid building, this is a show which never ceases to entertain.

All acts are performed to traditional African beats which really gets the audience in a festival spirit. It’s a show that the whole family can really enjoy!
