The Franklin Theatre will show “A Star is Born” Wednesday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 30.

While you will see the leading man Bradley Cooper on screen, we still can’t help but remember when he paid a visit to Franklin where he conducted a Q&A with audience members.

“A Star is Born” recently won a Golden Globe Award for “Best Song in a Motion Picture.” Lady Gaga along with Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt wrote the music and lyrics for the song “Shallow.” The same award was also won for the adaptation of the 1976 version with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

In addition to best song, the movie was nominated for best drama, best actress in a drama for Gaga and both best actor and director in a drama for Cooper.

Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson was instrumental in supporting the film as he co-wrote eight of the songs on the soundtrack as well as performed in the movie as a member of Jack’s (Bradley Cooper) band. While Cooper learned to play the guitar, it is in fact Nelson who you actually hear playing the notes.

“A Star is Born” is about musician Jackson Maine who discovers and falls in love with struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
