Today the Mayor tells us his feelings on important long term issues to address for the city of Franklin. The Number one long term issue is traffic and transportation, especially the southern corridor. “As we grow, this area is positioned to be third largest in job creation in American here over the next 20 years,” says Mayor Moore. The state is widening I-65 and we are building roads as we can. We need to get people to select options other than their car, says the Mayor. We already have over 100 van pools working out of the county and although light rail is a bit premature, a dedicated lane for rapid transit busses on the interstate is an option.
Economic development is another long tern issue and continued reaching out to local businesses is the key to managing growth. Staying ahead of development is another important factor. Creating our infrastructure ahead of development is important to keeping Franklin growing in a sustainable way. The last major long term issue is the waste water, storm water problem and the solution has been found; now it is time to implement over the next 30 years.
