Independence Grad Receives O’More Designer Award

O'More College of Design -Ashleigh Cain

Ashleigh Cain of Thompson’s Station recently graduated from O’More College of Design in Franklin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design. She also took home the Distinguished Designer award for her senior collection, Revival of the Fittest, at the O’More Fashion Show on May 10 at The Franklin Theatre.

An all-original collection that Cain designed and constructed in its entirety, Revival of the Fittest is noted for the use of fur taken from the remains of ‘road-kill’ that Cain collected along the back roads of Middle Tennessee.

“I wanted to give new life to the animals I found and give them a new purpose,” said Cain, an Independence High School graduate. “I was transfixed by the way that something that brings people disgust could be transformed into something unexpected. My collection was created from my surroundings, but now that my garments are complete I can see that they came from me too: a little quirky, somewhat futuristic, and mildly confusing.”

Cain plans to pursue a career in the fashion design industry.
