$9 Specials Continue at WCACAC & Sun Tunnels Introduced

September is the time to add that four-legged family member for only $9. The Williamson County Animal Control & Adoption Center is offering a $9 adoption fee for cats and kittens this month. Dogs are only $20 if you bring in food. The “Nine Lives for $9” adoption event has gained a lot of attention and the center hopes to continue the support throughout the month.

The newest addition to the WCACAC is Sun Tunnels. Five Sun Tunnels offer sunlight to the shelter and its inhabitants in three areas of the building. These special skylights provide amplified natural sunlight. Ann Logan a frequent visitor to the shelter and president of Williamson Animal Services (WAS) was instrumental in making these tunnels happen. WAS is a nonprofit that supports shelter efforts and they provided the tunnels and the labor to install them.

“The installation was fast, the improvements were immediate and there are no ongoing costs because the sun tunnels use no power,” said Laura Chavarria, shelter director. “We are grateful to WAS for coming up with this idea, and are pleased that our animals are now enjoying natural sunlight.” WAS supports the shelter during emergency times with special staff expenses through fund raising efforts.
