7 Tips for Holiday Air Travel

Flying during the holidays? Or picking up someone at the airport who is?

Now is the busiest time of the year for air travel, and for those going or coming home for the holidays, traveling by air can be a big unorganized mess.

Here are some tips to follow that might be obvious but can be restated for the holidays:

1. Arrive at least two hours before your flight to have time to check bags and wait in security check lines

2. Don’t forget there are a bunch of not-always-obvious things not allowed to be packed: www.tsa.gov is the best place to make sure you won’t be delayed by what is in your suitcase.

3. Check your flight status at the airport’s Web site before you leave, to make sure it has not been delayed or canceled. Click HERE for flight status information.

4. Check your boarding pass to see if you have been selected for the new TSA Pre-Check. This is a new program at BNA, which can make the screening process go faster. The two outside lanes at the security line center will be using the system.

5. You might want to get a mobile boarding pass on your cell phone to speed things up- the following airlines accept them at BNA: American, American Eagle, Delta, United and US Airways fliers

6. If you are meeting a passenger, the airport wants you to use a new cellphone/waiting area off the I-40 Donelson Pike Exit 216B; flight status will be posted; there is 20 minute parking in this area

7. For any other questions or information use the airport Web site: www.flynashville.com
