7 Must See Movies This Fall & Winter

Movie critics are conversing on this fall’s most anticipated fall/winter movies, some of which may pop up as Academy Award nominees next year. There are some very intriguing movies hitting theaters in the next few months; here’s a list of 7 (listed in order of release date) I’m personally excited about but there’s many more I could add to this list.

1.”Everest”

What it’s about: Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.

Starring: Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Robin Wright, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

In theaters: Sept 25th.

 

2. “The Martian”

What it’s about: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet.

Starring: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig

In theaters: Oct 2nd

3. “Pan”

What it’s about: The story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny — to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

Starring: Levi Miller, Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara

In theaters: Oct 9th

 

4.”Steve Jobs”

What it’s about: Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, “Steve Jobs” takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.

Starring: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels

In theaters: Oct 9th

5. “Bridge of Spies”

What it’s about: A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events,  “Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.

Starring: Tom Hanks, Amy Ryan, Alan Alda

In theaters: Oct 16th

6. “I Saw the Light”

What it’s about: This is the story of legendary country western singer Hank Williams, who in his brief life created one of the greatest bodies of work in American music.

Starring: Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Olsen

In theaters: Nov 27th

7. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

What it’s about: For those who don’t know, this is a continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983).

Starring: Oscar, Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver

In theaters: Dec 18th
