I-65 Shut Down After Crash in Pursuit of Murder Suspect

A police chase led to a crash on I-65 near Concord Road in Brentwood and the capture of a Nashville murder suspect Thursday, June 1.

According to Nashville Metro Police, the pursuit of Kevin Tidwell, 23, started near I-24 and Harding Place.

“Today, after developing information about Tidwell’s whereabouts, authorities engaged in a brief pursuit, leading to Tidwell’s capture after a motor vehicle crash, the circumstances of which remained under investigation at the time of this release,” the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a release.

Tidwell crashed, an incident that according to Brentwood Police involved three cars, which led to the shut down of all south-bound lanes on I-65 at a little past 10:30 a.m. Traffic resumed around 11:30 a.m. but is still very slow south-bound as of noon. A separate crash on I-65 Northbound in south Davidson County not long before led to both north and south bound I-65 being at a virtual standstill until late morning. As of 12:51 the city of Brentwood tweeted that all lanes on I-65 are cleared and back open.

There is no current information about injuries sustained in any of these crashes.

 

Tidwell was added yesterday to the TBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted List. he is wanted for the May 27 shooting murder of Jesus Flores on Antioch Pike at McCall Street in Nashville.
