Yesterday, we talked about the worst intersections in Franklin based on our traffic survey. Today, we take a look at the worst intersections that our readers mentioned as you travel in and around Brentwood.  Based on those results, here are the 5 worst intersections in Brentwood.

  1. Old Hickory Boulevard & Franklin Road at I-65
  2. Moores Lane & Carothers Parkway
  3. Franklin Road & Maryland Way
  4. Wilson Pike & Church Street
  5. Wilson Pike & Mallory Lane

Wilson Pike Intersection

As you can see from the list, Wilson Pike (SR 252) was chosen twice as the worst intersection. But actually we received comments that every intersection on Wilson Pike was frustrating to many drivers. Wilson Pike runs from  Church Street in Brentwood all the way to Highway 96 in Arrington. With two parks, and three schools, directly or indirectly intersecting with Wilson Pike, it is no wonder there is always congestion at these intersections. Also, Wilson Pike changes from a two lane at certain points to a three or four lane and then back to a two lane with two one lane bridges at one point.

During the Brentwood 2020 Comprehensive Plan Update process, citizen surveys identified traffic on major streets as the most important concern of Brentwood residents, states City of Brentwood.  In response, the Brentwood City Commission included $2.1M in new, small-scale transportation projects in the FY 2016 Budget. The first of these improvements, the addition of a turn lane at Granny White Pike and Murray Lane, has already been completed. Other projects are currently in the design phase, with construction slated for later in the fiscal year.
