Jimmie Allen is set to perform at the Franklin Theatre on Thursday, Jan. 31 as a benefit for Lipscomb Elementary. This performance will mark the up and coming country artist first time to perform at the Franklin Theatre and his only local performance for some time. And in case you don’t know Allen, here are three things to know.
1Allen released his debut album in October 2018
The Delaware native moved to Nashville to pursue his dream in country music and release his first album “Mercury Lane” in October 2018.
2Single “Best Shot” made history
Allen made history when his single “Best Shot” reached the No. 1 spot of the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck Country Airplay charts. This marked the first time a black artist garnered a career No. 1 hit with their debut single on Country radio. Watch the video above.
3Allen drives a batman truck
After scoring his first number one, he celebrated by getting a new truck- a custom “Jimmie Allen Batman” Ford F-150.
4His favorite Franklin eatery is Frothy Monkey
That’s right! When asked his favorite place to grab a bite in Franklin, Allen said Frothy Monkey is his go-to spot. Watch our video to find out what his favorite thing to order is.
5Allen hits the road with Kane Brown
Allen recently wrapped his run on Scotty McCreery’s Seasons Change Tour this past weekend with a sold-out show in Boston and will hit the road next month with Kane Brown on his Live Forever Tour. The Live Forever Tour will break new ground for African-American country artists as this will be the first time two country African-American artists tour together.
