1. How long have you lived in Nashville?

My family moved to Middle Tennessee in 1978 when I was seven. I grew up in Hendersonville, graduated with honors from both Hendersonville High and Belmont University. I can trace my ancestry back to the First Families of Tennessee through my mom’s side. I have family buried in Hohenwald, TN.

2. What made you decide to run for Congress in Tennessee’s 5th District?

I ran my father’s campaign in 2014 and grew to love the people in the 5th District, which is Cheatham, Dickson and Davidson Counties. I heard their struggles with their current Congressman and knew they deserved better representation than what they currently have – someone to represent ALL of the 5th District – not just one small section of Davidson County alone.

3. What kind of experience do you bring to the position?

I have been a small business owner for the past 15 years. I understand what its like to start a business from scratch and struggle to grow it just like every other small business person in my district. I am also a singer/songwriter. That is a big deal in Nashville – if you are not in the music industry then you know someone who is. It is one of the biggest industries in Middle Tennessee. Song writers and publishing companies deserve to receive their royalties. They will be best served by having one of their own in Congress. I have served as the First Vice Chairman of both the Davidson County Republican Party and the Nashville Republican Women. My values every day line up with the values of the people in my district better than a 26 year Democratic incumbent. The people in this district deserve to have a representative who accurately reflects who they are.

4. What are the core components of your platform?

I am a product of a military family. My father, uncles and grandfather all served. My dad and my father-in-law are currently both treated at the VA. I will be an outspoken voice for our men and women who are serving so that they receive the funds they need to do their job. When they come home, I will do everything I can to make sure they have the best healthcare on the planet. They have already paid for it.

I am a Constitutionalist. I believe in stronger state’s rights and less federal government. I will always work to try to shrink the size of the Federal Government and it’s over reaching bureaucratic nonsense.
I will always work for small businesses and work to get rid of anything either in law (like the Dodd/Frank bill) or in regulations to help those small businesses in my area and in all of TN flourish.

5 .Why are you the best Republican to defeat the 26-year incumbent Democrat, Sen. Jim Cooper?

I am a young, energetic fighter for the people in my district and I actually care about the people in Cheatham, Dickson and Davidson Counties – not just one small portion of donors that keep a 26 year incumbent in office. I have the education and experience to understand the needs of small business owners, I live the struggles of the song writers and publishing companies, and because I am the product of a military family I believe I better understand the needs of active duty military personnel and military veterans. The struggles I live everyday are the same ones as the people in my district.
