Shelby Lowe recently won a round of “Battle of the Bands” in The Search to Find a Southern Original contest. He heads out soon to the next round in Panama City. The recent MTSU graduate was just recently signed to Banner Music.“Shelby brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our team. He is determined to do what it takes to succeed and he is full of optimism about accomplishing goals, says Daniel Kleindienst, co-owner/songwriter/producer of Banner Music. We sat down with Shelby to learn more about his career in country music and what he really likes about living in Tennessee. Shelby Lowe will be performing on September 3rd in the next round of the Battle of the Bands in Panama City, Florida

What is it like to be a native Tennessean?
I love being a Tennessee native. I am very blessed to have grown up and such a beautiful state. My hometown is a small farm community with lots of rolling hills.

Was there a defining moment where you chose to pursue your music career?
I started singing along to the radio in my car in high school, And some of my friends heard me and thought I was pretty good. I ended up singing at my high school talent show on a dare. Everybody loved it and encourage me to become a singer.

Who are your musical influences?
I grew up listening to classic rock, classic country, soul and pop music, so I am influenced by wide range of artist. I love Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Hank Williams. On the other hand, I listen to Bill Withers, The Black Keys, Kings of Leon and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Tell us about winning Battle of the Bands?
I was very excited to win Battle of the bands in Birmingham Alabama, but now I have to win the next round in Panama City, Florida for a spot on the Gulf Coast Jam opening for Keith Urban. The contest is on Sept. 3rd at Dave and Buster’s at Pier Park, in case anyone wants to come support!

What’s next for you?
I have a busy rest of the year ahead of me. I’m getting ready to work on my first full length album next month, and I have shows lined up all over the U.S. You can find my show dates on my website at ShelbyLowe and on Facebook.
