IMG_6902-200x300Meet Waine & Sharon Hicks of Carriage House Custom Homes & Interiors.  Newcomers to Franklin but experienced in construction with over 30 years in the business.  Their philosophy is simple, it is all about the customer and making sure their customers get what they want with no surprises in the end.

1

You recently relocated from Florida to Franklin, what brought you here?
Our daughter lives here and we wanted to be closer to our grand children. We actually live just down the street so we are really close to them.  Our grandson was on the Little League team that attended the World Series Little League.  We didn’t want to miss out on any of his games.

How did you establish your business in Franklin?
We just had our open house last week at our showroom. The first thing we did was join the Downtown Franklin Association.  We can not tell you how welcoming they have been to us.  It has been so helpful to be a part of that community   Then we tackled the task of finding suppliers and vendors here to work with on our projects.  We have established a great team.

In addition to joining the DFA, you also have become involved in the Heritage Foundation?
Yes, we are excited about the  work of the Heritage Foundation. Sharon volunteered for the home tour in Florida and so when she heard about the opportunity here with the Heritage Foundation, she volunteered.  Sharon says, ‘Yes, I am so taken with all of these historic homes and was willing to  offer any help that I could. I am the co-chair for a home on the tour. We just attended  a lovely kick off dinner.  I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this event.’

Your business is a family affair, can you explain that?
Sharon: My husband is the general contractor and I am the kitchen and bath designer. My brother Scott overseas all the cabinetry sales and designs.  Our daughter Jennifer is the director of sales and communication. We feel it so important to have great relationships with our suppliers, vendors, and sub-contractors.  We even work very hard to have great relationships with our customers who often become our friends.  We are looking to expand our showroom to include an outdoor space where we can show outdoor living to our customers but also have gatherings for our customers, vendors,  and suppliers to show them how much we appreciate them.  Back in Florida we would often have at least 200 people at one of our events and we look forward to doing the same here.

Can you tell us some things you have enjoyed since moving to Williamson County?
We really enjoy the Farmers Market.  We also enjoyed the Art Crawl, we went in the dead of winter but for Floridians, it was fun to be out in the cold weather. The snow over the winter was a lot of  fun, not something you see in Florida. We took our grand children to the Rockettes at the Grand Ole Opry.  There are so many other things on our list, we just haven’t gotten to all of them yet.  We look forward to exploring more things this summer.
