5 Concerts to Attend this Week


Here are five concerts to attend this week from the Greatest Hits of Train to Mary J. Blige, The Peach Pickers and Sixwire, the band which often appeared on the show “Nashville.” And if you hurry, you can grab one of the last seats remaining for Michael Buble’ at Bridgestone Arena.

1. Train and the Goo Goo Dolls with Allen Stone


Ascend Amphitheater, Tuesday, July 16th, 7 p

Train just released their greatest hits album in November 2018 and Goo Goo Dolls will soon release “Miracle Pill” this fall. Opening the concert will be R&B singer Allen Stone. It’s certain to be a sing-a-along event as the GRAMMY award-winning Train will play “Save Me San Francisco” and “Cah.”

2. Mary J Blige and Nas

Mary J. Blige and Nas are bringing “The Royalty Tour” to Bridgestone Arena on Thursday, July 18th, 2019.  Iconic Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist, Mary J. Blige is a figure of inspiration, transformation, and empowerment making her one of the defining voices of the contemporary music era. With a track record of eight multi-platinum albums, nine Grammy Awards (plus a staggering 32 nominations), two Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, and a SAG nomination.

Nas’ catalog speaks for itself. Most recently, Nas released the 4th of 5 Kanye West-produced projects, NASIR. Nas has been engaging in far more than music in the 6 years following his last full-length solo record Life Is Good (2012).  He founded restaurant Sweet Chick and sneaker boutique 12AM:RUN, he has heavily supported UNICEF and the East African region known as the Horn of Africa. Nas has ascended rap and become more than the music he continues to create.

3. Peach Pickers (Dallas Davidson, Rhett Akins, and Ben Hayslip)

It’s a star-studded night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on July 17, 2019, when the Peach Pickers (Dallas Davidson, Rhett Akins and Ben Hayslip) host sixth annual Georgia On My Mind concert benefitting the Georgia Music Foundation. The lineup will include Jamey Johnson, John Berry, Craig Campbell, Michael Ray, Brent Cobb, Colt Ford, Bill Anderson, Travis Denning,Lindsay Ell, Ray Fulcher, Amy Ray of Indigo Girls, Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, as well as surprise guests and a special performance by the Otis Redding Foundation’s DREAM Choir.

The efforts of the Peach Pickers and friends have enabled the Georgia Music Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting programs of music education, preservation and outreach, to award nearly $400,000 in grants to music programs at schools and non-profit organizations over the past five years.

4. Sixwire & Friends


3rd and Lindsley, Tuesday, July 16, 8 p

Ever since their debut on Warner Brothers Records, the members of Sixwire (Andy Childs, Steve Mandile, John Howard, Chuck Tilley, Steve Hornbeak) have been the busiest, hardest working band to come out of Nashville, making themselves the “go-to“ guys for television with stints as house-band on USA Network’s NASHVILLE STAR, FOX’s NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND, CMT’s NEXT SUPERSTAR, and ABC’s dramatic series “NASHVILLE”.

Most recently, they were selected by ESPN to be the first ever “house band” for the 2019 NFL Draft which was held in Nashville. Not only have these guys played on countless hit records, but they’ve written hits for many top artists as well, and toured with literally hundreds of stars.

5. An Evening with Michael Buble’

After a two-year hiatus, Buble’ is bringing his tour to Nashville. Just a few tickets remain to the show. Buble’ has won four GRAMMYs and sold over 60 million albums. He recently won the 2019 Juno Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album.
