Saturday October 20th should be set aside if you are planning on selling or just want to know the value of your antiques. The Lotz House is holding its 4th Annual Fall Antiques Appraisal Fair at the Civil War house museum at 1111 Columbia Avenue across from the Carter House. “During these tough economic times many people are looking to sell some of their possessions. It is very important to know the value on an item before you approach potential buyers. We are happy to provide that service,” said Lotz House Executive Director J.T. Thompson.

The appraisal is held from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. and is open to the public. Bring your antiques and learn their value. Each appraisal is $20 or get two for $25 and three for $30. A maximum of three items is necessary per visit to allow everyone the option to take part. Your appraisal grants you one free admission and guided tour of the Lotz House Museum.

“In addition to learning the value of an item, there is a really great experience tied to learning the item’s history. Understanding where these pieces came from and what kind of people originally owned them is a truly rewarding experience. These events are a blast because you really never know what treasures will show up on our lawn,” continued Thompson. For more than ten years Thompson and his mother Sue Armstrong have been featured at antiques fairs across the southeast. They have teamed up once again to benefit the Lotz House Foundation. Both of these guests are renowned appraisers and experts in their field.
