A citizen tip has led to the recovery of $45,000 in Rolex watches, stolen during a downtown business burglary. On March 10, the owner of Jack Yacoubian Jewelers reported that his business at 114 3rd Avenue South had been broken into. The suspect broke out an alley window; once inside, he pried open a display case and stole four Rolex watches from the case.

A tip led investigators to a juvenile suspect who ultimately confessed to the burglary and surrendered the stolen watches. Burglary and Felony Theft charges have been filed against the juvenile.

We spoke to Jack Yacoubian from Jack Yacoubian Jewelers, “I am so grateful to have  the merchandise back.  I was contacted by the young man’s attorney who returned the watches to me.  One of them was damaged and the others were in perfect condition.  I sent the young man’s family a bill to repair the damaged watch.  This doesn’t happen very often that you receive your merchandise that was stolen,  It’s a miracle. I attribute it to the surveillance  camera  information from City Hall and the fact that I had the serial numbers and pictures of the rolex watches.”
