4 Must Visit Swimming Locations

cummins falls

Take the family on an adventure with these four locations for swimming this weekend.  All within a very short driving distance, it will be family memories in the making.

1. Percy Priest Beach- located just a few miles outside of Nashville.  Percy Priest Lake offers options for swimmer who like the hang at the beach, cliff jump,or you could  rent a boat for the day.  Cost is $4  per car.  Be sure to pack a cooler with  food and drinks for the day.

2. Harpeth River Swimming Hole- Located in Franklin.  A great spot to swim is at the intersection of Temple Road and Old Natchez Trace.  Try out the rope swing!

3. Rutledge Falls- While there  are no specific directions to these falls, go to Tullahoma. Once there, find the Baptist church, follow the hiking trails down to the falls.  Perfect photo opportunity and Instagram post in the making.

4. Cummins Falls- Take a drive over to Jackson County Tennessee. Cummins Falls offer winding trails, creeks, water falls, and swimming. Located on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River it is one to definitely put on the list for this summer.

The latest review on Trip Advisor said, “be prepared for a slightly strenuous hike if you do not do this often (down a worn dirt path, then up the river over rock paths, big rocks, and through water around knee deep on an average height adult), make sure to put on sunscreen before you start the hike, a backpack for water, snacks, and towels is your best bet so that you have your hands free for navigating different parts of the hike, and I would also recommend using one of those waterproof bags for your cellphone or camera just in case you fall. There are bathrooms at the trailhead, and good parking. We did not have cell service in the area. The hike and my sore legs were totally worth the hike. The falls are beautiful. The prettiest that I have seen in person.”
