Local 4-H Introduces STEM Courses

4-h

4-H, the youth education component of the University of Tennessee, announces its 2018-19 courses for youth in grades 4-12 in Williamson County. While continuing to offer youth programming in traditional 4-H areas such as agriculture and sewing, 4-H now offers innovative opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education.

“It is not unusual to walk into our office on a Tuesday evening and see students in one classroom building robots, students in another classroom solving a mock crime using chemistry, and students in a third room programming a 3D printer to build a derby car,” says Jennifer Hartsell Stockdale, 4-H Youth Educator.

Registration is underway for courses in STEM Fun, Crime Scene Investigation, Robotics, Engineering Fundamentals, 3D Printing, Python Programming, and Raspberry Pi. Courses meet once or twice a month at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park, 4215 Long Lane, Franklin. The fee for all courses is $100. Financial assistance is available.
