4 Fitness Classes To Try This Summer

Water Aerobics

They say it’s easier to work out if your exercise routines are fun. The Williamson County Parks and Rec (WCPR) has a full calendar of unique group fitness classes that can transform a boring workout routine into something fun and exciting.

Here are four classes around the county to try:

Jazzercise
The Fairview Rec Center (2714 Fairview Blvd) offers Jazzercise almost every day of the week at a variety of times to fit anyone’s schedule.

Jazzercise is a total body workout, combining dance-based cardio with strength training and stretching to sculpt, tone and lengthen muscles. This fast paced, fun workout burns up to 600 calories an hour!

Class times are:
Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat 9:30a-10:30a
Mon, Tues, Thurs 5:30p-6:30p & 6:30p-7:30p
Tues & Thurs 8:45a-9:45a (Jazz Lite)

This class is perfect for teens and adults, so grab your friends and try this fat burning workout today!

Water Aerobics
The Indoor Sports Complex (920 Heritage Way), offers water aerobics classes three days a week.  What makes water aerobics such a great workout is that you receive a great workout without straining joints; however, the resistance of your movements in the water help strengthen muscles and burn calories.

Classes are held Mon, Wed, Fri 8:30a-9:20a (shallow water) & 9:30a-10:30a (deep water).

Hip Hop
Don’t let the words ‘hip hop’ intimidate you. The Longview Rec Center (2909 Commonwealth Dr in Spring Hill) is helping folks get in shape with this fun, dance class. These classes emphasize fitness over style, so don’t worry if you’re a beginner dancer–it’s all about having fun while exercising.

Classes are offered Tues 10:50a-11:50a and 6:45p-7:45p and Thurs 6:45p-7:45p.

Piloxing
The Franklin Rec Center (1120 Hillsboro Rd) offers Piloxing, a class which blends the power and agility of boxing with the beautiful sculpting and flexibility of Pilates. When you mix these two calorie blasting workouts, you get a full body workout, perfect for getting you beach bod ready.

Classes available Mon 4-4:50p, Thurs 5:25p-6:15p and Sun 1:45p-2:35p.

To Note: Group Fitness Classes are not included in the Facility Passes; they must be paid for separately.
