4 Events Not to Miss at the Franklin Theatre

August is a busy month with lots of live entertainment at the Franklin Theatre.  In this month’s list,we feature music, comedy show and  live theatre.

1. Coast to Coast Blue Night-Thursday, August 13th, 2015 at 8pm. It’s a night sponsored by the Blues Society featuring Golden State Lone Star Revue and  The Andy T-Nick Nixon Band.Golden State Lone Star Revue collective name reflects this history-making union of outstanding veteran blues artists from the Lone Star State and California, two longtime bastions of the music. All three performers are Blues Music Award winners and among the most respected figures in contemporary blues today.

Andy T-Nick Nixon Band featuring Nick Nixon, who emerged from Nashville’s Jefferson Street music scene in the 1960s and was signed to the historic Chess label, is a powerhouse whose voice can only be described as a force of nature. This show is a special album-release celebration for their new album Numbers Man, scheduled for August 28. Tickets start at $20.

2. Gallagher’s “Joke’s on You Comedy Tour”with Artie Fletcher and Bob Nelson-August 25th, 2015 at 8pm. A Gallagher concert is an unforgettable experience. He is a keen and original observer of human nature and the American “scene.” “My humor makes people think,” Gallagher says. “I want people to look more closely at this country and their lives to see the humor and absurdity in it all …I don’t have to make it up, the truth is funny enough.” Tickets start at $43.00

3. Mickey Gilley-August 27th,2015 at 8pm. Mickey Gilley whose musical influences are his cousins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Swaggart, learned to play piano at an early age. Mickey is known for his hit in” Urban Cowboy”- “Stand by Me” which led to a Grammy and a star on the Walk of Fame. It will be an evening of Mickey Gilley sharing his hits and stories of his musical career. Tickets start at $49.50.

4. Mary Poppins:The Musical-Tuesday, August 18th-Sunday, August 23rd at 7pm. Act Too Pro presents the popular Disney movie in a new way. Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven TONY Awards, including Best Musical. Tickets start at $15.00
