Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency agents see quite a bit of drinking alcohol on the water. It’s against the law to operate any boat while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If a person is convicted of boating under the influence, they can be fined up to $2,500 on the first offense and serve a jail sentence of up to 11 months and 29 days. That person could also lose the privilege to operate a boat for one to 10 years.
