4.24 Baseball Recap: Centennial and Father Ryan Hang on for Close Wins

Centennial traveled to Clarksville tonight for a meeting with the Wildcats. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third Deon Sanders ripped a double to score Baily Wisnioksi to tie the game at one.

The score would remain 1-1 until the top of the sixth when Billy Lowe doubled in Chase Carter who had just tripled. Lowe would score on a two-out error by Clarksville third baseman Nolen Milton giving Centennial the 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.

The Wildcats got a run back and had the tying runner 90 feet from home plate but Cougar pitcher Adam Mancour got Gabe Bowling to fly out to center to end the inning.

Although Clarksville did get a base runner in the bottom of the 7th they never really threatened to bring him all the way around and Centennial escaped with the win.

The Cougars improve to 19-11 and will face Page on Monday.

Father Ryan 3, Ensworth 2

Father Ryan got a tight win as well and by an identical score.

Father Ryan scored the first three runs of the game but had to hang on for the win as a Nick Rolfe double in the top of the sixth got the Tigers to within one.

Ensworth got the tying run into scoring position but Jake Flanagan, who pitched a fantastic game, got the last batter to ground out to third to end the game.

Flanagan gave up just three hits and struck out four in all seven innings of work.

Brendan Jordan’s RBI double in the fifth proved to be the difference as the Fightin’ Irish improve to 17-7. They will play the Tigers one more time tomorrow.
