3 Trends in Athletic Shoes

When it comes to athletic shoes, technology is ever changing and so if you haven’t bought a new pair of athletic shoes you might be missing out on the new trends to make your workouts more comfortable.  The key words for 2106 according to Runner’s World are foam, bounce, and rubber. But in order to get the perfect fit,see our video on a proper shoe fitting at Fleet Feet.

Foam

Comfort is of the utmost importance and shoe companies are listening by adding more cushion to shoes. Strides are being made to improve the strobel board by making it more flexible. Adidas is cutting holes in the strobel, such as under the heel bone, to let you feel the cushioned bounce of the Boost material underneath. Not new is inserting foam between layers of fabric in the strobel or making the board itself out of a strip of foam, as Nike and New Balance do in much of their line.

Bounce

There is now a variety in shoe feel to suit your preferences. So for those who like a snappy quick turnover and want to be cushioned,it’s covered with the new technology. Adidas defined this new bouncy category with its Boost models, and now is inserting the game-changing material in all of their styles.

Rubber

Gone are those thin strips of rubber. Now shoes are being made with more rubber and high quality rubber with a promise to grip the road or trail better than before. Adidas, The North Face, La Sportiva, Merrel, Scarpa, and Solomon all showed off shoes with quarter-inch-deep rubber lugs for aggressive trail and mud running.
