3 New Ways to Get Your Groceries

Holidays are just around the corner, and time is very valuable.  We’ve been looking for ways to save time and if your family is anything like ours, you could save a lot of money by not having those impulse buys as you walk up and down the aisles of the grocery stores.  Here are three new ways to get your groceries.

Walmart – Launching in September, customers may now order online from the Franklin or Spring Hill Walmart. Simply enter www.walmart.com/grocery.  Customers will then be asked to enter you zip code which will take you to your local store.  After selecting your items, you can reserve a time to pick up your groceries. Walmart Grocery is also available as an app for iPhone users. Bonus: they will even bring your groceries to your car for you. There is no membership fee for Walmart’s grocery service.

Shipt – Launching back in July,Shipt  an on-demand grocery delivery service, is now available in our area. However, you must be a member to order groceries from the Shipt mobile device, which are then delivered to your home or office as soon as an hour later. Orders can be placed daily  from 8am to 10pm. Minimum purchase of $35 is required for free delivery. An annual membership costs  $99.  At this time, groceries are currently purchased exclusively from Publix.

Kroger – Not wanting to be left out of the online grocery shopping, Kroger recently launched  in Tennessee an online grocery ordering system.  Simply order your items from www.kroger.com/clicklist.  Select your time for pick-up and your order will be available the following day.  A fee of $4.95 will be charged with each order but Kroger is waiving that fee during the introductory period.  While the service launched in Gallatin, Kroger representative Melissa Eads, told us,”We will be rolling out to other stores on a steady basis. Should be 1 or two in Franklin area very soon. ”

We can see big benefits to the online ordering system and with Kroger coming on board soon, you will have lots of options to choose from.  It seems grocery shoppers are often loyal to one store or another for different reasons. The only disadvantage we can see is if you prefer to hand select your own produce. However, you can also sit and plan your meals, check your pantry and simply order online without hassle, no children in tow and we see that as a major plus.  Let us know what you think about online grocery ordering and what your experience has been like in our area.
