1960s Style Drive-in Theater Planned for Nashville

Movie-goers will have a new option in 2018. Variety announced Nashville is slated to launch August Moon, a massive indoor 1960s drive-in theater. The $10 million project sets out to give an outdoor summer night experience while completely enclosed inside a 40,000 square foot dome with a simulated starry night as you sit in classic cars complete with food service.

Here are four things to know about August Moon.

1.August Moon was created by Michael Counts who told Variety, it will be as if you stepped onto a stage. “We’re building a set as if you’re going to shoot an outdoor scene in a movie, on an indoor stage.”

2. Co-Founder Ken Levitan is also the co-founder of the Nashville Food and Wine Festival.

3. August Moon will accommodate 350 guests with a typical 90-minute movie experience lasting up to 3 hours after exploration and food service.

4. Price of admission will vary from $8 -$20 based on seat selection. Membership will also be available and those who become a member can gain free entrance.

August Moon anticipates opening date by summer of 2018 and will be located at the intersection of James Robertson Parkway and Interstate 24.
