Williamson County Volunteer Group and Brentwood based, African Leadership is teaming up to host the 4th annual Spread the Word Golf tournament to be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Vanderbilt Legends Golf course in Franklin .
Williamson County Volunteer Group member, John Murphy, stated that the attitudes, behaviors and conduct of individuals in our community have drastically changed.
“I’ve been in Malawi and seen first hand how a Bible can change a family,” says Murphy, who has traveled to Africa multiple times.
“It’s the joy you see in the faces when you hand a person a Bible for the first time. When you put it in their hand, the corruption in that area, you can slowly see it start going away.”
“Churches are growing in attendance (47% avg. rate where Bibles are distributed) and many small groups are forming which impact local communities. I thank God for my Bible. I never used to read the Bible on a daily basis, which I now do. I’m excited that I’m now able to refute those who distort the Word of God and I can now serve God with more joy,” says, Pastor Ngosa, in Malawi.
Many of us in the US take for granted having a Bible in our home, states African Leadership President, John Walter. African Leadership’s Academy program graduates thousands of students each year. Thanks to the donations raised through John Murphy¹s work and the Spread the Word Golf Tournament, these graduates can go into their communities and communicate truth, thus challenging and changing the corruption often seen in local neighborhoods.
On Tuesday, August 23 2016, Murphy and African Leadership will host the 4th annual Spread the Word Golf Tournament at Legends Golf Course, so that more Bibles can be distributed to pastors and congregations in Africa.
Registration begins at 1pm with 1:30 tee time. After the tournament, dinner will be served. Cost to participate in the tournament is $125 per player or $500 for a four players. Throughout the tournament there will be prizes given for hole-in-one contest, 50-50 drawing and a 4-player Scramble. Register for the event on their website.
“It’s this chain reaction that is so amazing to me,” says Murphy. “The most awesome thing to me is the children. Just knowing that those Bibles are going to change communities and give the children a chance and provide them with hope for a better future.”
Registration is open through event day, until full (walk-ons welcome). Hole sponsorships are available through Tammy Murphy, [email protected].
