114 mph Car Chase Ends on Peytonsville Road

michael-james-sewellMonday at 5:00 a.m., a Franklin Police Department officer clocked 28-year-old Michael Sewell of Nashville at 114MPH on I-65, moments before his Volkswagen Jetta went airborne and crashed. Sewell was heading south near mile marker 64, and actually accelerated after spotting the officer coming after him. During his attempted getaway, Sewell exited at Peytonsville Road where he lost control of his vehicle, going airborne before landing in the construction zone 500 yards off of the roadway.

In addition to his car, Sewell damaged a fence and curbing valued at more than $500 during his getaway attempt, landing him a Felony Vandalism charge. Sewell was also charged with:

  • Felony Evading
  • Speeding
  • Speeding in a Construction Zone
  • Reckless Driving
  • No Insurance, and Driving an Unregistered Vehicle

He is free on a $9,000 bond and due in court 03/12/2015 at 1:00pm. Sewell’s driving record is extensive.
