The Independence Eagles came out on a mission to extend their winning streak Friday against Columbia.

The winless Lions (0-8, 0-5) didn’t put up a fight against the Eagles (8-0, 5-0), as Indy jumped to a 32-0 lead after the first quarter and raised it to 53-0 at half, before winning 53-7.

That makes 23-straight wins for the Eagles and 14-straight losses for Columbia dating back to last season.

Indy travels to Franklin County next week before wrapping up the regular season at home against LaVergne on senior night. The Eagles currently hold a one-game lead over rival Summit for the top spot in Region 5-5A.
