Independence High School will host a family-friendly affair on April 7 to enjoy its inaugural Taste of Indy event.

Taste of Indy is a community event where everyone is invited to enjoy an evening filled with food and fun as local restaurants provide samples of their specialties.

Event-goers will then have the chance to vote on which participant offers the Very Best Bite.

There will also be a silent auction offering a range of items from Disney World tickets, to dinner dates, spa treatments and sporting events.

Admission to the event for adults is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Students and kids are $15 in advance or at the door, while children three and under are free.

2. On Track Studios Art Show
April 7th 6-9p, April 8th 10a-2p, April 9th 1p-4p

On Track Studios is an art studio on two acres of land, providing the perfect space for artists to create and showcase their work.  Four artists will be featured at the On Track Open House this weekend – Marjorie Hicks, Mike Sowers, Ed Routon, and Brenda Coldwell.

The evening will include the music of HarMonix plus a variety of other local, talented artists to entertain attendees.

5. Buttercup Festival

Spring has sprung and the Annual Buttercup Festival is back for its 18th year. This free one-day event that attracts thousands will return April 8th from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the downtown Historic District of Nolensville.

“We’re excited to present this free event to the community for the 18th year, and look forward to another great festival all can enjoy,” says the Buttercup Festival Committee.

Returning from a hiatus to this year’s festivities are the members of the 46th Tennessee Civil War Re-enactors who will set up camp. This will be open for all ages and will take place next to the First United Methodist Church. Be sure to bring your get-up and get ready to learn some old tricks of the trade.

6. Will Power 5K

On April 8, 2017, WillPower will hold its 5th annual 5K race in downtown Franklin beginning at 7:30 am.

Will NeSmith suffered a spontaneous brain hemorrhage in 2012 at the age of 12, a rare event that occurs in less than one-tenth of one percent of the population. He spent weeks in a coma and two months in a hospital and learned he would spend years rehabilitating his brain and body to relearn everything from walking to talking.

NeSmith decided to start the Will Power 5K to celebrate his survival and raise money for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), the genetic condition which led to his injury.

8. Tennessee High School Rodeo
April 8th 7pm, April 9th 2pm
Ag Expo Center

High School kids from across the state will compete for qualifying points to compete at State Finals. Sat 7pm, Sun 2pm. Kid Zone before each rodeo & stick horse races in the arena! $10 adults at the Gate. The Tennessee High School Rodeo is part of the nationwide circuit of young men and women in grades 9 through 12 in the National High School Rodeo Association.

9. Sunday Market

The Factory at Franklin

A new type of seasonal market makes its debut at The Factory at Franklin on Sunday, Apr. 9 from 11:00 am  – 5:00 pm. The Sunday Market will feature handmade goods designed by local artisans as well as high-quality vintage finds. Market admission is free, but guests are encouraged to learn about and support the community-focused non-profit highlighted. In April, Nashville-based Go Be Love International will showcase its domestic and international mission work.

Forty vendors are expected to be on-site for the April 9th event.

10. Eggstreme Easter Egg Hunt 2017

Franklin First United Methodist Church, 120 Aldersgate Way, Franklin

Come one, come all and join in the Eggstreme Easter Egg Hunt as we go on the hunt for thousands of brightly colored eggs. Join us on Sunday, April 9 from 3-4:30 p.m. for this time-honored tradition that we love to celebrate each year. Kids ages 1 through 4th grade, join us for fun on inflatables, singing with Roger Day, yummy treats with Itty Bitty Donuts, Brewsters Ice Cream, Kona Ice, Doxie’s Pizze and others and an all-out run to find those prized eggs.
