October Business Snapshot

Williamson, Inc., develops an economic snapshot of the county each month. On Friday they released the numbers from September.

Here are some highlights:

  • Unemployment is at 4.9 percent, lower than the national average of 5.1 percent.
  • The labor force is 108,170 and the total jobs here are 127,262. The higher number is due to people who commute in to Williamson County.
  • The average earning per year is $67,857.
  • The population continues to grow, at an estimated 209,870 people.
  • 1,125 business permits have been issued to date this year, breaking the pace for last year.
  • Income from local sales tax is up 11 percent from last year.
  • Home prices are up, while the number of new building permits for homes remains the same as last year at this point. The median home price is $441,990, up 6.5 percent from this time last year.
  • Business vacancy rates in Cool Springs (1.0 percent) and Brentwood (1.9 percent) are about as low as they have been for the past year.
