Williamson Co Players Make All-State Baseball Team

Williamson County will be well represented this year on the All-State Baseball Team. The Tennessee Sports Writing Association granted honors to high-school baseball players around the state, as they released this year’s All-State Baseball Team line-up.

In Class AAA:

Brentwood High School: Bryan Reynolds (infielder): Reynolds’ athletic excellence will continue on his journey at Vanderbilt University. He verbally committed to Vanderbilt last summer and will be attending this fall.

In Class AA Team:

Summit High School: Dale Burdick (infielder) – Head coach Chad Kirby says that Burdick’s hard-work ethic is very impressive. “He is very talented and actually puts the work in.” Burdick’s hard work has seemed to pay off with an offer from Mississippi State where he will attend and play this upcoming year.

Spring Hill High School:

Jake Usher (infielder)- A highly valued player at Spring Hill, Usher signed with Walters State. Last season, he had a .405 batting average with five home runs.

Cole Barksdale (outfielder)- Signing with Columbia State, Barksdale is another highly valued player at Spring Hill. Although chosen as an outfielder, he had a record of 8-2 with 101 strikeouts last season.

Christ Presbyterian Academy: Brandon Jean (utility)-Christ Presbyterian Academy’s head baseball coach, Larry Nesbitt, says Jean’s very humble and quietly confident demeanor is one of his best personal attributes as a pitcher. “He’s quietly confident…he knows he’s going to be successful.” Jean signed with Lincoln Memorial University earlier in the year and will be attending this fall.

In Division II:

Franklin Road Academy: Matt Hissong (pitcher) – Franklin Road Academy’s head coach George Weiker says Senior Matt Hissong was one of the best competitors on the mound. “We’ve never had a pitcher go undefeated 11-0…everybody thought we were going to win the game when he walked out…” Hissong will continue his baseball journey to the University of South Carolina: Aiken this fall.

Brentwood Academy: Will Haynie (catcher)-Senior Will Haynie has received media attention from the 2013 MLB Draft. Head coach Buddy Alexander says some coaches will never have the chance to coach a player of his caliber. “He is a unique talent…a lot of people in town know he’s draftable…and he certainly will play one day.” Haynie is now taking classes at Alabama and preparing for the upcoming season.
