Franklin (6-1, 4-0) at McGavock (1-6, 1-3), 7 p.m. Friday*

The Franklin Rebels take the Region 3-6A lead to region foe McGavock Friday night.

The Rebels, currently atop the league standings at 4-0, are riding a six-game winning streak after a heartbreaking loss to Centennial in the first week of the season.

Behind running back Mitch Rossi (771 run yds, 12 total TDs) and a talented defense, Franklin has skirted around a tough region schedule and remained unbeaten thus far. It currently is half a game ahead of Mt. Juliet and full game above Ravenwood in the standings.

McGavock has struggled to a 1-6 record this season. The Raiders are giving up 34 points per game while scoring just 16 per contest.

The Rebels and Rossi should expect to take advantage of the porous McGavock defense.

Friday’s contest may serve as a final tune-up for Franklin before it takes on Mt. Juliet next week. The Rebels then play Lebanon at home to conclude the regular season.

Columbia (0-7, 0-4) at Independence (7-0, 4-0), 7 p.m. Friday*

The Independence Eagles and their 22-game winning streak are back at home Friday to take on the winless Columbia Lions.

The Eagles should be expecting to dominate both sides of the ball. The Lions are giving up 48 points per game while scoring only 18.

Indy’s potent offense led by quarterback Brandon Hines (1,300 pass yds, 11 TDs, 8 INTs) and running back Troy Henderson (476 rushing yards, 11 total TDs) should have no issues cutting through the Columbia defense while guiding the Eagles to their 23rd straight win.

The contest is the third and final game in the Eagles’ homestand before traveling to Franklin County and finishing out the regular season back at home against LaVergne.
