Week 5: Jack in the Box Athletes of the Week

1. Male Athlete of the

Eight catches, three Touchdowns, 262 receiving yards and appeared to have done enough to lead his Eagles to an upset win over the number one team in 6A.

We all know how it ended, so no need to revisit it but check out these two scores from Nate last Friday. He had some big holes to fill after two Indy receivers graduated and are now wearing the Big Orange of UT in Knoxville. Because of Nate and his teammate Seth Huner, Independence has not seen a drop off in the wideout position.

I accidentally called him Nate Washington on the wrap-up show because why not compare him to a professional wide receiver? The guy has been incredible all season as Andrew Bunch’s main target.

Johnson is only a junior so one would expect plenty of big colleges to start sending him some mail soon, if they haven’t already.

2. Callie McKinney: Franklin Soccer.

Scoring two goals in Franklin’s win over Independence.

FHS is now 9-2-1 with a 5-1 district record. The Lady Rebs are eyeing another trip to Murfreesboro and not many teams have the ability to take them down. Especially with McKinney in maroon.

McKinney will soon head up I-65 north to Louisville home of the University of the Lousiville Cardinals, where she will take the pitch in one of the finest…check that, THE finest looking college soccer stadium in the country.

More accolades are headed her way but for this week it’s the Jack in the Box Female athlete of the Week.
