WCS Makes Big Predictions at Awards Banquet

Williamson County Schools Superintendent Mike Looney made a few predictions at the WCS Board’s annual banquet Tuesday night.

First was that WCS student scholarship hit another high in 2016-17, which has so far received $170 million in college scholarships. The class of 2016 got $145 milllion and the Class of 2015 got  $136 million. Since 2010, WCS students have gotten more than $1-billion in scholarships.

Also, WCS will break its ACT high-score record set last year of 24.7.

• Highest Percent of 21 or Higher on ACT: Brentwood
• Highest ACT Growth: Page High School
• Highest Graduation Rate: Renaissance High School
• Highest Participation in Advanced Placement Courses: Brentwood High School
• Most National Merit Scholars: Brentwood High School
• Most State and National Recognition in the Arts: Ravenwood High School
• Highest Student Attendance: Nolensville High School
• Highest Teacher Attendance: Brentwood High School
• Media award: Franklin High School and Independence High School

Middle School

• Superintendent’s Superior Award for Academic Achievement: Brentwood Middle School
• Highest Student Attendance: Sunset Middle School
• Highest Teacher Attendance: Grassland Middle School
• Media Award: Mill Creek Middle School

Elementary School

• Superintendent’s Superior Award for Academic Achievement:Lipscomb Elementary School
Media Award: Walnut Grove Elementary School
 •Highest Student Attendance: Edmondson Elementary School
 Highest Teacher Attendance: Clovercroft Elementary School
