Wag & Wash Event to Support Animal Center

Give back to the Williamson County Animal Center on Saturday, June 27 during their Wag & Wash fundraising event taking place at the center in Franklin.

If you’re heading to the Blackberry Jam to see Quintavious at 1:30, stop by the Animal Center with your doggy on the way or after the show. The Wag & Wash event takes place at the Animal Center in Franklin (see map below) from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Dog washes will be given for a donation, nail clippings for $5 and microchipping for $15.

Shelter director Laura Chavarria said the shelter is looking for new ways to reach out to pet owners, and a dog wash with microchip clinic is a start in that direction.

“We want all pet owners to know that microchipping  is the absolute best way to ensure your pet can be identified in the event it escapes your property,” Chavarria said. “It just takes a couple of seconds to painlessly inject the microchip under the pet’s skin, and it gives you a lifetime of permanent protection.”

Both shelters and veterinarians, she added, immediately check all stray pets for microchips. The chip number can then be found in an on-line registry with owner information.

At the Wag & Wash event, volunteers will be giving dog baths, and shelter personnel will offer nail trims ($5) and microchipping ($15) for both dogs and cats. The shelter will also be providing information on the free spay/neuter program available for family pets.

The shelter continues to be at capacity for cats and kittens, and is extending its Kitten Kaboodle special. Adopt one kitten for $50, and receive a second kitten at no charge. Adult cat adoptions are $25. Adoptions require an approved application and include vaccinations, spay or neuter and microchip.

Williamson County Animal Center at 106 Claude Yates Drive in Franklin is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Adoptable animals can be viewed on line at www.adoptwcac.org. For more information, call (615) 790-5590, visit www.adoptwcac.org  or like Williamson County Animal Center on Facebook.
